Alyssa Grady has been an active member of HAULYP since January 2011. She currently serves on both the Community Outreach and Civic Engagement Committees. This year she volunteered for the MLK Day of Service and Arbor Day. Alyssa graduated with honors from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in May of 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. Currently Alyssa is a 2nd grade teacher at Dogan Elementary School.

Michele Scurry joined the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals in January 2011. Michele is a member of the Fund Development Committee and has assisted the Public Relations and Marketing Chair. Over the past year, Michele has participated in projects such as the Voter’s Registration Drive, HIV/AIDS Awareness Outreach Initiative, Get Out the Vote, Health and Wellness Fair, and attended this year’s Whitney M. Young Conference. Michele has also been elected as the 2012 Secretary for the HAULYP Executive Board.

Michele graduated May 2009 from Prairie View A&M University with a Masters Degree in Architecture, focusing her graduate studies in environmentalism and community development. She currently is a Sustainability Specialist for Waste Management. Michele also volunteers her time to the U.S. Green Building Council Emerging Professionals, National Organization of Minority Architects, and currently serves as a board member for Green Door Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to better engage Houston’s under-served communities on issues regarding sustainability and the “Green Movement” though education, community outreach, and job placement. She is an associate member of the AIA, licensed realtor, and LEED® Accredited Professional.

Carrie Spann has been an active member of HAULYP since April 2011.  She is a member of the Community Outreach Committee.  Carrie is currently the team lead for the College 101 session for the fall YP University and has also participated in the Health and Wellness Fair and Achievement Matters event.  Carrie graduated from Ball State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in Legal Studies and a minor in Spanish.  Carrie moved to Houston in July of 2010 and is currently employed as a Legal Assistant for the Federal Public Defender’s Office.

Kimberly Ross has been an active member of HAULYP since January 2011. She is a member of Community Outreach and Professional Development committees. She has volunteered at several events including the Homeless Mobile Outreach, YP University and the Speed Networking event. She is currently the team lead for the College and Career Fair for the fall edition of YP University and working on the planning team of the Youth Entrepreneurship Institute. Kimberly graduated from The University of Texas with a BS in Communication and a minor in business. She is currently a district manager for Kraft Foods in the Houston area.
